Mining
Data Mining requires the
use of a variety of techniques to seek out and identify from
volumes of information, not only that which has taken place
in the past but also to predict what may happen in the future.
It requires the fusion of the skills of technical competence
and a competent investigative probing mind. It involves knowledge
techniques for machine learning, software proficiency, pattern
recognition, statistics, database linguistics, visualisation
and data analysis to discover patterns, regularities, change,
and anomalies.
It allows organizations
to detect fraud or identify and evaluate risk. It secures
information that allows managers to make informed decisions
or simply confirm or negate perceptions and move forward using
identifiable sources for referral.
Alecto has the competence,
experience and skills necessary to undertake such projects
or introduce them to an enquiry if a need is seen. On many
occasions it is not just a matter of securing the data but
identifying the hidden information that it contains which
was not previously discernable or was so obvious that no-one
had noticed the patterns that it displayed. Also having found
the information it requires the additional skill of being
able to interpret and present it in way that is understood
by the many as opposed to the few.
